A New Road Ahead
Our plans to send two teams from August to September 2020 to Ghana and finish the construction of the orphanage guesthouse have been cancelled. Nevertheless, we want to continue to give our best and stand by the Donkorkrom community, especially in times like these. Therefore, we quickly restructured our organizational process. Local members on site will be responsible for the construction of the guesthouse and supervise all the work around the project. Through regular video conferences, we will keep each other updated and discuss the progress and weekly plans at the construction site. In the meantime, we are working on a way to transfer the remaining construction costs efficiently to our local partners.
We also had to suspend our “Old But Gold Project”, which relies on volunteers traveling to Ghana and Donkorkrom. This is especially troubling because we were able to gather many new live-saving donations since the beginning of this year:
- Patient monitors
- ECGs
- Blood pressure cuffs
- Infusion pumps
- Infusion Data Managers
- Stetoscopes
- Laboratory equipment
- And lots more!
But we are also facing up to this problem: Too safely transport our donations in a timely manner, we are working intensively on organizing a container to ship medical goods across the ocean to Ghana.
